July/August Christian Advance PREVIEW:

July/August Christian Advance Preview:

Here’s a sneak peek at our interview with the bestselling author of The Five Love Languages, Dr. Gary Chapman, about his new book, Love as a Way of Life: Seven Keys to Transforming Every Aspect of Your Life.

Q: For whom is Love as a Way of Life written?
A: Love as a Way of Life is written for anyone who would like to succeed in leaving their corner of the world better than they found it. This is my definition of success. Truly successful people are those who learn to love others. Life’s meaning is not found in getting but in giving. As a result of loving others, all of your relationships will be enhanced. Most people recognize a gap between the kind of person we would like to be and the kind of person we are. This book is designed to narrow that gap.

Q: What makes Love as a Way of Life stand apart from other books in its genre?
A: Most books on love talk about “getting the love you want.” Love as a Way of Life focuses on becoming a lover. It answers the question: How do I develop the characteristics of love to such a degree that love becomes a way of life? It is based on the premise that the greatest power in the world is authentic love.

The full interview with Dr. Gary Chapman will appear in the July/August issue of Christian Advance.

Independence Day is right around the corner. Fireworks will entertain us, we’ll get together with friends and family, and grillers everywhere will unite in one accord. And all of that, as normal and predictable as it seems, defines freedom for us. We are free to live our lives--free to worship, free to assemble, free to speak, and free to choose our leaders. Many other nations do not enjoy the freedoms we sometimes take for granted, but let’s all change that together. From now through July 4, find time each day to thank God for our freedoms in any way you choose: through prayer, civic duty, volunteerism, word-of-mouth, or even in your own store. Happy Independence Day from your friends at Spring Arbor!
